We ended up going to 4 or 5 Halloween/ Fall festival parties and the kids got to dress up a lot. They loved it and man were they cute!!! At one party they played Chubby Bunny...where you stuff marshmallows into your mouth...Judah said he never wanted to play that game again.

Last Saturday was National Children's Day so we called some of our closest friends and spent the day at the park. The park was filled with neat blow up slides and face painting. It was a great day to celebrate our children with family and friends.

On our way to the States for vacation we had a day lay-over in London. Some friends that live there helped guide us around the city. We got to see all the major cites as well as take a break at a local park for the kids.

Close to our house is a statue of a bull. Every time we walk buy it the kids beg to sit on it and this time I gave in...look how happy it made them.

Shiloh has loved her new scooter and her new Dora backpack. Every day she rides the scooter around the house and when anyone comes over it is the first thing she shows them. Judah is thankful too because now he can have the bike all to himself.

Shiloh had her 4th birthday party at Burger King. Lots of her friends came and she had a blast. She played and ran around on the playground and has two skinned knees to prove it. Today is going to be Shiloh's birthday party so yesterday Shiloh "helped" me with her cake. Usually I make the cake a surprise but with Rob gone I thought I should make it early so it was impossible to hide it from Shiloh, but she loved being my little helper. She has been talking about getting a Dora cake for at least 2 months so this was the best I could do. I was too scared to try her whole body. Shiloh thinks it looks like Dora so she is happy, which means I am happy. Happy Birthday My Sweet Sweet Girl!!!!

Since Rob was out of town I tried to make Shiloh's official birthday special. We went on a picnic down by the water close to our house. Shiloh wanted to bring some of her fake food and her toy cups and plates. It was a beautiful day and Shiloh loved it.

In Germany Shiloh and I found this great shop for kids and we bought Judah a spiderman hat and belt. When Shiloh saw the hat she told me "Judah has to have this" and of course I agreed. He has not taken either off them off since he got them...he even slept with his hat last night. So it is good to know that Shiloh understand what her brother "needs".

Shiloh's visit to Germany

Shiloh and I went to Germany for her bi-annual eye appointment. We had a great time filled with eating lots of sausage, shopping, and visiting Stuttgart's wonderful zoo.

She is become such a big girl and didn't even cry or complain as Dr. Ruth helped fix her eye.

It is so fun to see her growing up and beginning to understand what is going on.

For Rob's birthday we took a walk on the water front and then after the kids nap we went on a picnic with some friends. It was a beautiful place on top of a hill and the kids picked flowers for daddy.

One of Tanya's favorite things to do while she was here was to go the the local bazaars. You can find anything you want there. As you can see in the pictures there is everything from fruits and vegetables to clothes and kitchen utensils. It is a fun way to shop.

We went over to our neighbor's house to let the kids play and we had a cake for dessert. So we got out a candle and pretended it was their birthdays. We must have sang happy birthday 6 times just so they could keep blowing out the candle. They loved it and now they want to use candles for every dessert.

My sister and niece are here visiting. We are having a great time. We have visited the bazaar, gone swimming in a friend's pool, hung out at the park, gone to the beach and walked the streets of Istanbul. Yesterday we did all the famous places here like Sultan Ahmet, The Blue Mosque, and The Underground Cistern. We even stopped for a Starbucks coffee on the way.

My Birthday Weekend

Instead of a birthDAY I had a birthday WEEKEND. Friday we spent the day at Sports Fest, which is like a sports festival were people from all over this side of the world come to play basketball, volley ball, soccer and other sports. Unfortunately it was raining but fun non the less. Saturday Rob took me Kiz Kilesi for a special dinner. It is a small maiden tower in the middle of the water with a nice restaurant in it. Then Sunday I spent the day with my neighbors at a outside festival where they took homemade planes and pushed them into the water to see if they could fly or not. Interesting. The kids just played in the grass and picked flowers but they still had a good time. It was a great weekend to turn 32.

Judah had a great 2nd birthday. He got the football cake he wanted and lots of presents. We spread them out over the whole day and he loved that. In the morning he got a remote control car, which he played with for a few hours. Then I took him and Shiloh to Burger King for his favorite meal of chicken fries and french fries and then an hour and a half of playing on the playground. After a nap we had home church and then his birthday party. Here are some of the pics from the party. We are so blessed to have our sweet little man!!! For Christmas Shiloh got a adorable pair of pink wings and Judah got a cute cape with a big J on it. So one of my friends came over to stay with us while Rob was out of town for a few days. She entertained the kids by helping them fly. So I thought it would be a great time to use their neat presents but of course Judah wanted the wings and Shiloh wanted his cape. None the less they had fun running, jumping and flying through the air.

Every night before bed we read a Bible story to the kids. Then we sing and pray and put them to bed. Almost every night Judah climbs in bed with Shiloh and begs to sleep with his big sister.

Shiloh got lots of new cooking things for Christmas so we were trying them out. She mixed up some wonderful pancakes in her new mixer and made some toast in her new toaster. Judah observed and as Chef Shiloh prepared a delicious breakfast.

The kids and I spent the day outside in the beautiful sunshine. I knew it would be raining all this week so we spent Friday outside. What was meant to be a hour visit to the park turned into 3 hours. It was so beautiful we lost track of time. The kids threw balls around a sitting area close to the water, then we played and the park, and ended with a picnic. Well the picnic actually turned into taking bites of food while climbing up the side of a big hill. It was a great day!!

For Christmas Shiloh got this great book "If you Give a Pig a Party" and a cute stuffed pig to go with it. So we did just that we gave her pig Suzy a birthday party. We dressed up for the party and then the pig and all her friends had a sleepover. In the morning we made a tent out of blankets and ate a special breakfast of chocolate chip muffins. Most of what we did was following the book and Shiloh LOVED it. Judah joined in for the muffin eating part of the party. He even starting stealing the muffins from Suzy the pig and her friends. Thanks for the fun gift Aunt Heather and Uncle Marty!!!

We got to spend the holidays with our families. Here are some pics of our time with my(Kristie) family. We took the kids out to my Dad's hunting lease for a few days and then had Christmas at my brother's house. Shiloh got to help pass out the gifts. She also got many special gifts including her new Dora doll and fairy wings. Judah really likes his new tool belt. It was so so great to get to spend time with them over the holidays.

We had so much fun at my brother's wedding. Shiloh did a great job as the flower girl. After the wedding her and Judah danced the night away at the reception.

This morning we had a gymnastics class. Shiloh loves to do front flips and back-bends. Judah attempts to copy her but usually just ends up bumping his head on the floor. If he is not copying her he is running around her laughing as she flips and flops around the floor

Last week, before it got cold there were 3 beautiful days so we went to the park. Shiloh loves going to the sand park so she can attempt to build a castle. She will play in one place for hours while I chase Judah around the park.

Trick-or-Treat

Some of our friends invited us to go trick-or-treating in a unique are of Istanbul. It was just like America, all the houses had scary decorations and handed out lots of candy. The kids loved it. Shiloh was a ballerina/ princess and Judah was suppose to be a hunter, but everyone thought he was a solider. It was fun and by the end of the night the kids were on a sugar high.

Henna Gecesi

We went to Adana for Turkay's (our old language teacher) wedding. Shiloh and I went to a Henna Gecesi, which is the celebration the night before the wedding. It was a night full of dancing and Shiloh LOVED it. She spent most of her time standing as close as she could and watching everyone dance. She even got out there with the bride (the one in purple) to dance.

After all the dancing a tray with candles was brought out along the henna. The bride chooses an older women she respects to put the henna in her had as a sort of blessing. It was such a neat cultural event for me and Shiloh.
